Here is a list of the international or world days for wild cats in 2026. All of the big cats and some of the smaller cats are celebrated on a special day annually to promote awareness of these majestic and endearing creatures.

Quarter 3: Jul-Aug-Sep 2026

July 29 - International Tiger Day / Global Tiger Day
The iconic and biggest cat of them all, the Tiger (Panthera tigris), is celebrated this month.

August 4 - International Clouded Leopard Day
The two species of the beautifully patterned Clouded Leopards (Neofelis nebulosa and Nebulosa diardi) are arboreal wild cats of the Southeast Asian forests.

August 8 - Scottish Wildcat Day
The rare Scottish Wildcat is a sub population of the European Wildcat (Felis silvestris) and was declared functionally extinct a few years ago. Re-introduction programs are underway to restore the 'Highland Tiger' to its former range.

August 10 - World Lion Day
Lions (Panthera leo) are the largest wild cat in Africa, and the second largest big cat worldwide after Tigers. Populations of the 'king of the jungle' have dramatically declined by nearly half in just two decades.

September 18 - African Wildcat Day
The African Wildcat, which is now called the Afro-Asiatic Wildcat (Felis lybica) is common across its range, however, is being affected by inbreeding with domestic and feral cats, with which they are very closely related.

January 28 - World Geoffroy's Cat Day
Geoffroy's Cat (Leopardus geoffroyi) is a small, wild cat found only in South America. These beautiful cats are facing habitat destruction, retaliatory killing, poaching, fires, poisoning and disease.

February 1 - World Fishing Cat Day
The Fishing Cat Conservation Alliance also declared Fishing Cat February as a month-long awareness campaign to educate people about the Fishing Cat; based on February 2nd being World Wetlands Day.
Additionally Fishing Cat Day was launched on February 22nd as an annual event by a Protected Area in India - Kaziranga Tiger Reserve.

February 10 - International Day of the Arabian Leopard
The Arabian Leopard (Panthera pardus nimr) is a subspecies of Leopard that occurs in the Arabian Peninsula and is Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List.
- The United Nations proclaimed February 10 as the International Day of the Arabian Leopard to bring attention to the plight of this rare big cat.

March 18 - World Serval Day
Servals are one of the most recognisable of Africa's smaller cats with their large ears, long legs and spotted coats.

March 21 - Save the Florida Panther Day
The Florida Panther is a small subpopulation of the North American Mountain Lion (Puma concolor cougar) occurring in the state of Florida in the United States.

This day is scheduled on the third Saturday of each March, so the date changes each year.

April 23 - International Pallas's Cat Day
The Pallas's Cat (Otocolobus manul) is an unusual looking wild cat inhabiting the arid, cold montane grasslands of central Asia.

May 3 - International Leopard Day
The well-known beautiful big cat, the Leopard (Panthera pardus) is celebrated this month.

May 23 - Caracal Day
The African small cat with the long-tufted ears, the Caracal (Caracal caracal), is common in most parts of its African range, but becoming increasingly rare in its Asian range.

June 11 - International Lynx Day
Lynx day has expanded to include all four Lynx species - Eurasian Lynx, Iberian Lynx, Canada Lynx and Bobcats.
